NAIDOC Week 2009 5 to 12 July
Posted on Sunday, July 5, 2009 in Aboriginal Australia
NAIDOC stands for National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee.
NAIDOC is a celebration of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and an opportunity to recognise the contributions of Indigenous Australians in various fields.
The national theme for this year’s NAIDOC Week celebrations is Honouring Our Elders, Nurturing Our Youth. The theme encourages our communities to acknowledge the status of our Elders as leaders and role models for our youth.
