ANZAC Day: Remembering Lives Still Being Lost

Anzac Day 2009 Road closures

Anzac Day Dawn Service at Australian War MemorialThere will be road closures and special event clearways in the Sydney CBD on Saturday, 25 April 2009 for the Anzac Day March and dawn service.

Time:  1am until 3pm
Location:  Throughout Sydney 

From 3am until 3pm on Saturday, 25 April 2009, roads between the Cenotaph in Martin Place Sydney and the war memorial in Hyde Park south will be closed for the Anzac Day dawn service and march.

The march begins at 9am in Martin Place, proceeds into George St, Bathurst St then Elizabeth St and ends in Hyde Park. Approximately 20,000 participants and numerous spectators are expected to attend.

There are also other events being held at Moore Park and Randwick on this day requiring changed traffic conditions.

Motorists are advised that there will be delays in the CBD, The Rocks, Moore Park and Randwick. Please allow extra travel time and use an alternate route. If attending any of the Anzac Day events, travel by public transport is advised.

Special event clearways will also apply in the Sydney CBD from 1am until 3pm. Please check signage before parking as illegally parked vehicles will be towed and fines apply.
