Come Walkabout

Rock painting at Ubirr in Kakadu National ParkSometimes we just need to get away from it all. For thousands of years Aboriginal people have gone ‘walkabout’ to reconnect with the land and their traditional way of life. For most of us, ‘walkabout’ takes the form of a holiday - a time to rebalance and refresh. It lets us find ourselves when the pressures of daily life have made us lose touch. It doesn’t matter whether we go to the city, bush or beach, or drive, fly, walk, sail or catch a train. Going ‘walkabout’ lets us nourish the inner magic that makes our life rich.

Our country triggers this magic in many different ways. You might sense it in the space and silence of the outback. For others it’s the romance of a fiery sunset and outdoor dining at dusk. You might discover the lost parts of yourself when tracing the ancient outlines of Aboriginal rock art or listening to the deep throb of the didgeridoo. It could take trekking through World Heritage-listed wilderness or diving with technicolour fish to remember the glorious feeling of really being you.

Watch the landscapes dance past as you cross the continent on an epic train trip. Discover the unique forever-ness of our Red Centre by four-wheel-drive. Set sail on the turquoise sea of the Whitsundays or walk endless stretches of white sand along the Great Ocean Road. Cruise past birds and crocodiles in the primeval Daintree Rainforest. Go walkabout in your country and open yourself to life’s unpredictable beauty. Wherever you end up, you’ll realise this beauty lies deep within you.
